Katherine (KK) Mayo
Artistic Director
As a Maine native, Katherine began her study of dance at Kennebec Dance Centre in Augusta. While there she also began teaching and choreographing on students. From this experience Katherine was able to broaden her career at P2P Dance Center and Camp Vega as a dance instructor. She graduated Cum Laude from Hofstra University in 2012 with a dual degree in Dance and Civil Engineering with a minor in Mathematics. Throughout her career at Hofstra she had the pleasure to perform works from choreographers such as Doug Varone, Amy Marshall, Giada Ferrone, Maxine Steinman, Robin Becker, Karla Wolfangle, Jill Sigman and Jodi Sperling. Her own choreography has been showcased in performances at NYC Dance10 @ Dixon Place, Triskellion's Summer Shake Up, Ready Freddy?! Series (Creators Collective), the American College Dance Festival and the biannual Amalgamate Series in recent years. Katherine’s 2011 self-choreographed solo entitled "Augusta Moves" was chosen to be performed at the Kennedy Center in May of 2012 by the National College Dance Festival. In recent years she has taught modern dance at That's Dancin studio in Middle Village, NY as well as holding master classes at various studios and Hofstra University. She has also been seen touring with Robin Becker Dance's Into Sunlight performances most recently being a tour through the country of Vietnam and West Point Military Academy. Katherine has also been a participant in many charities including volunteering at Friends with Four Paws, New York Cares and participating in the Walk to Defeat ALS. As the founder of KaKe Dance she hopes to reach others worldwide through performances of the company's modern repertoire and the indulgent works on the youtube series "...With Words".
Alex Goleman
Executive Director
Alex Goleman is thrilled to be on board with KaKe Dance. Originally from NH, Alex could be seeing performing with various theater and dance companies around the southern NH and northern MA area including Peacock Players, Actorsingers, and Derryfield Repertory Theater.Various additional credits include performing as a vocalist for New Hampshire All State Chorus, Southern New Hampshire All Area Chorus, Nashua Symphony Association and most recently appearing in a modern adaptation of Woyzeck. After moving to NY, Alex received his BBA in International Business from Hofstra University and is currently pursuing his MBA at Baruch. While at Hofstra, Alex acted as the Treasurer for Danceworks, an on campus student run dance organization. Currently he is employed as a fiscal administrator at Pentacle Dancework Inc. providing support for various nonprofit dance and theater companies in the NYC area.
Leah Cernosek
Company Manager
Born and raised in Houston, Leah began her dance training at the age of three and continued her studies at the Houston Ballet Ben Stevenson Academy and the High School for the Performing and Visual Arts. She graduated magna cum laude from Hofstra University with a BA in Dance and a minor in Business. During her college career, Leah had the pleasure to perform works by Niles Ford, Doug Varone, Robin Becker, and Maxine Steinman, as well as study with Keith Thompson, Amanda Loulaki, Pamela Pietro and Michael Foley while attending summer festivals. She studied abroad in Paris and Melisey, France with Washington University St. Louis where in an intimate setting she studied with David Dorfman, Lisa Race and Liz Claire, and collaborated with other students to create an original work that was premiered in Melisey. During her senior year of college, Leah interned at IMG Artists' dance division where she learned a great deal about artist management. Upon graduation, she was paired with Peter Kyle Dance through the Pentacle Cultivating Leadership in Dance internship program. Leah helped Peter organize the administrative side of his dance company, including annual budget and daily finances, event planning and coordination, social media marketing, and tour management. Leah works as the Office Manager and Personal Assistant for Dailymotion in Palo Alto, California. She is happy to be working with KaKe Dance and looks forward to its future success.
